What makes you think Johnny Depp didn't receive any critic's awards or recognition? Also, did you do any research into why not only Sweeney Todd, but Atonement didn't receive SAG nominations? Finally, Sweeney Todd is showing up on many critics' top 10 lists for 2007. DDLewis is a wonderful actor, but only seems to show up when a film screams "OSCAR!". That's the edge Depp has---been out there, doing a wide range of roles that shows his versatility. As much as I admire DDLewis' acting, he hasn't shown that range. To quote you, "Just throwing that out there."

Are you asking me why Johnny Depp didn't win any awards? Ummm... because critics perceived Daniel Day-Lewis' performance as much bettter? Because more voters liked George Clooney in Michael Clayton than Depp in Sweeney Todd? It's not like this is a science - I just call 'em like I see 'em.

I'm also unclear why DDL's performance is lesser in your mind, because he "only seems to show up when a film screams 'OSCAR!'" If he padded his resume with gems like PS - I Love You and Good Luck Chuck, would he be a better actor?
